You need to let key officials in Government know about your river and its issues by writing to your MP.
As you may agree, the consultation perhaps should have taken on board more suggested actions by people who know their river. Although the consultation was useful for inputting local knowledge, the River Basin Management Plans still need:
a) A commitment in the final plans to statutory catchment level action plans that will ensure that there is a transparent delivery mechanism setting out action for individual rivers and the catchment as a whole;
b) Detailed measures to address diffuse pollution and sedimentation; and
c) More transparent information about who is responsible for polluting individual rivers
Your local MP is best placed to make these asks.
Even if you have already written to your MP, they may need some nagging; phone them - keep them engaged with the campaign!
(All MP contact information can be found on the parliament website)
It is imperative that they write to Hilary Benn in the coming weeks, making the above asks, to ensure a positive future for your river as well as rivers around the country.
